James Sutton.
Engineer, Data Analyst, and Lifelong Learner.
About Me
My name is James. I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of North Dakota in 2018. Since then I have applied my talents first with Whirlpool Corporation, developing the next generation of consumer appliances and more recently with the Notre Dame Turbomachinery Laboratory, helping to define the next generation of propulsion and power generation technologies. In both roles I frequently leveraged Python/MATLAB for data analysis, automation, and to build useful intraday tools for personal and team use. I've dabbled in a variety of fields including web design (CSS and HTML), traditional OpEx data analysis methods (including an OpEx Black Belt certification), more contemporary Machine Learning through TensorFlow, GUI design using Tkinter, as well as data analysis automation through various Python modules. I'm currently interested in the world of executable deployment and distribution in addition to my day job as a Test Engineer. While engineering is a passion of mine, I prefer to think of myself not exclusively as an engineer, but as a multi-faceted professional with an eagerness to cultivate new skills, learn new techniques, and build meaningful things that can impact the life of every day people.

Predictive Stock Modeling via LSTM Models (Python)
Utilized yfinance & Google Colab to develop a data pipeline, pandas & numpy for workflow data cleaning and pre-processing, Tensorflow & Keras to modify and customize standard LSTM models for specific use case, matplotlib to review and analyze model output, then backtested model implementation prior to deployment via TD-API.
Personal Email Server (AWS Workmail, Simple Email Service)
Utilized AWS services to spin up and utilize a personalized email service for use in professional inquiries.
System Positioning Regression Algorithm (ECW)
Developed a regression based algorithm to expedite testing and improve safety related to a project subsystem. Algorithm substantially reduced test execution time and improved system accuracy from 0.1deg to less than 0.05deg deviation. Developed in a proprietary language (Cyres ECW) w/ unique logic flow limitations.
Calibration Report Automation (MATLAB)
Utilized MATLAB to generate calibrations for instrumentation and output calibration results into an NDTL formatted powerpoint template. Reduced reporting time for generation of calibration reports from hours to minutes while also increasing reliability, consistency, and standardization of reports.
